Yes, daily grooming and standing still whilst having it done, claw clipping, examining eyes and ears, genital area and taking pills are all things that dogs should be well used to.
Our Jess and Mist loved being groomed and knew when it was time, they'd rush up and position themselves in front of me and wait for me to start brushing...they'd stand still and just daydream whilst I did it. I remember my sister watching through the window once and she was laughing and commented on how the dogs looked like they were falling asleep whilst being brushed. Once their top half had been brushed, I'd ask them to roll over so it was easier to brush their underparts and they did straight away.
Even as a pup with the puppy fluff, even though they don't need grooming like an adult, they should still be taught to stand and gone over with a soft brush just to get them used to having it done and this should be done daily for a couple of minutes from day one that you get them or as soon as they can stand if you bred them.
Claw clipping is another one they need to be used to. So many dogs go into panic mode when their owners try and touch their paws. _________________ Dogs are not our whole lives but they make our lives whole.
I regularly clip the nails on a friends two Yorkshire Terriers...The larger male is absolutely scared stiff, and always has been, the smaller male never bats an eyelid.. _________________
the older one may have had a bad experience, where the nail has been cut too short that may be the answer to that. _________________ www.freewebs.com/sarjettegsd/
